Mara & Ernest Wedding Cake : 07.07.12

By Ayon

I ran into Mara at this year’s UCSA (United Communities of SA – a non-profit organization that eradicates bigotry and racism so kids are empowered to be the best they can be) fundraise dinner.  It was perfect timing as she had heard so much about my cakes and wanted a delish and beautiful one for her wedding.  Mara’s fiancé Ernest and her parents came for the cake tasting, tried 3 flavors and – as it usually happens – they all agreed with the Guava Creme for the wedding cake.

I had a blast baking and decorating this cake.  Mara’s color combo was so beautiful and she let me take care of the flowers, which I do prefer over getting flowers from the bride’s florist.  It gives me better control over the colors and cake flower arrangement.

Luckily, our little apple trees are producing and I thought of adding them as green accent – unique and oh so cute.  The photos above showcase the top two layers of the four tiered cake – I took these in my kitchen which usually has better lighting vs. the wedding venue’s.

I’m so happy with how the cake turned out – love peonies and hydrangeas.  Very happy too to have my BFF Yuli to help me take the cakes to La Villita Assembly Hall, the wedding venue, and to put the finishing touches on the cake.  THANK YOU!
